Hedge Trimming

When to Prune Hedges And How Often
Hedges are a landscape feature that provide many benefits to property owners including privacy, bird habitat, aesthetic features and natural fencing. At Higher Place Tree Care, we are experts at trimming all sizes and species of hedge. Hedges are often pruned annually (or more frequently depending on species) and are typically maintained to stay the same size. Because they undergo such frequent pruning, it is important to trim them regularly and to understand the characteristics of each species and how much pruning they can handle. Over-pruning or pruning at the wrong time can result in dieback which can impact their aesthetic quality.
We Are Experts at Trimming Hedges
Hedges are often planted when new landscaping is done and will look their best if a qualified arborist is retained to manage and maintain them yearly (or more frequently depending on species). Too often, regular maintenance by a qualified arborist is overlooked, allowing young, newly planted hedges to get out of control and become too large for the space. Letting hedges go on too long without trimming can make it difficult or impossible to bring them back to the size they once were. However, even if they have been allowed to grow without trimming, we can often bring them back into an aesthetically pleasing form that fits within the landscape of the property. What can be done depends on the species, age and condition of the specimen(s) in question.
