Why Do Trees Need Pruning?
There are many reasons why trees may require pruning including but not limited to: for safety, to provide clearance from buildings or structures, for more light to your property, for visibility, or for aesthetics. If you want to take the best possible care of your trees, and want the work done safely and efficiently, it is important that you hire trained, educated, qualified arborists to prescribe and carry out this work.
Sometimes pruning should be avoided for certain species at certain times of the year. Knowing when, what and how much to prune can make the difference between a healthy, vigorous tree and a diseased and declining one.

Proper tree pruning can have many benefits including: Improving tree structure, maintaining tree health, reducing likelihood disease spread or infection, mitigating risk of part or whole tree failure, clearance from adjacent infrastructure to avoid damage, rejuvenation, increased flower or fruit production, wildlife habitat and better aesthetics in the landscape of your property.

Industry Standard Certified Pruning Practices
All of our pruning is conducted in accordance with Industry Standard Best Practices and is carried out by or under the direct supervision of a qualified arborist (ISA Certified Arborist, Ontario Qualified Arborist 444-A). We follow the ANSI (American National Standard Institute) A300 Best Management Practices for all pruning operations. This means we make proper pruning cuts and stay within the threshold for removal of live growth. We only use non-invasive climbing techniques to preserve the health of your trees – WE NEVER SPUR YOUR TREES WHEN PRUNING. Spurs are harmful to tree health and should only be used on tree removals.
The Process Of Tree Pruning
Tree Pruning (also called tree trimming) involves the selective removal of plant parts to achieve a defined objective. Trees are a valuable asset to the urban landscape and require regular maintenance pruning to encourage tree health and remain compatible with their location.
The first thing we do when assessing tree pruning requirements is to listen to our clients and determine the pruning objective. When determining the pruning objective, we consider client needs and expectations and balance that with species and specimen characteristics, tree condition, growth habit, location, adjacent infrastructure and site usage. Once the objective has been determined, we can prescribe the appropriate pruning for your trees and shrubs.
